Policy

Politique d’utilisation équitable

Last updated: May 6, 2026

VoxiSMS is built on a simple idea: your Android phone already sends SMS through your carrier plan, so we do not charge a per-message markup. This lets us offer the service for just $1/month, far below what traditional SMS APIs cost.

Why this policy exists

We are not putting a hard cap on how many messages you can send. We want VoxiSMS to be genuinely useful, and that means letting you send as much as your business actually needs.

But to keep the service sustainable and reliable for everyone, we need to make sure it is used the way it is intended: by individuals, small businesses, and teams sending genuine, human-relevant messages through their own carrier plans.

This Fair Usage Policy explains what counts as fair use, what does not, and what happens in the rare case where usage falls outside these boundaries.

What counts as fair use

VoxiSMS is designed for legitimate, transactional, and conversational SMS use cases, including:

  • Order confirmations, shipping updates, and delivery notifications
  • Appointment reminders and booking confirmations
  • Customer support replies and ticket updates
  • Two-factor authentication and verification codes
  • Internal team alerts and operational notifications
  • Marketing and promotional messages sent to opted-in recipients
  • AI-driven follow-ups and re-engagement messages through connected tools like Voxiplan

If your usage looks like normal business communication, sent to real recipients, at a reasonable pace, through a carrier plan that supports the volume, you are using VoxiSMS as intended, and you have nothing to worry about.

No hard limits, for now

We deliberately have not set a per-message cap on the $1 plan. We would rather see how people actually use VoxiSMS in the real world before drawing arbitrary lines.

That said, "no cap" is not the same as "no limits." Fair use means reasonable use, the kind of volume a genuine business would send, at a pace a real human or workflow would generate.

As we learn more about how customers use the service, we may introduce specific tier limits in the future. If we do, we will give existing customers at least 30 days' notice before any change takes effect, and we will always recommend the right plan for your volume rather than charging surprise fees.

What is not fair use

Industrial-scale blasting. Using VoxiSMS to send tens of thousands of messages per day in a way that goes beyond normal business communication. For example, mass marketing campaigns to non-opted-in lists, or automated outreach at a scale your carrier plan was never designed to support.

Unsolicited messages (spam). Sending SMS to recipients who have not opted in, or sending messages that violate anti-spam laws in your country or your recipients' countries including but not limited to TCPA in the US, GDPR in the EU, CAN-SPAM, and PECR in the UK.

Carrier plan abuse. Sending volumes of SMS that breach your mobile carrier's own fair usage terms, trigger anti-fraud throttling, or risk getting your SIM blocked. VoxiSMS is not responsible for carrier-side enforcement, and we expect you to comply with your carrier's terms.

Prohibited content. Sending messages containing illegal content, scams, phishing attempts, fraudulent links, harassment, hate speech, or content that violates the laws of any jurisdiction the message touches.

Automated reselling. Reselling VoxiSMS message capacity to third parties, or operating VoxiSMS as a white-labeled SMS service for clients without an Enterprise agreement.

Circumvention. Using multiple accounts, devices, or technical workarounds to bypass account-level restrictions or evade enforcement actions.

How we think about "reasonable"

  • Volume relative to your business. A solo founder sending 10,000 SMS in a day looks different from a 50-person company sending the same volume. Context matters.
  • Sending pace. Genuine business messaging usually has natural rhythms, with bursts around order confirmations, appointment times, or campaign sends. Continuous high-velocity sending across 24 hours often indicates automation that was not designed for SMS.
  • Recipient quality. Messages going to a diverse, real customer base look very different from messages going to lists of unverified numbers.
  • Carrier signals. If your carrier starts blocking, throttling, or flagging your SIM, that is a strong signal that your volume has exceeded what consumer SMS infrastructure is built for.

We do not apply these as rigid rules. They are how we would assess a situation if we ever needed to.

How we monitor usage

VoxiSMS does not read the content of your messages. Your messages are sent directly from your Android device through your carrier and do not pass through our servers.

We do monitor metadata associated with your account, including:

  • Total monthly message volume
  • Sending velocity (messages per minute or hour)
  • Number of unique recipients
  • Delivery and bounce patterns
  • Reports of spam or abuse received from carriers or recipients

This metadata helps us identify accounts that may be operating outside fair use, and helps us protect the service for all users.

What happens if usage exceeds fair use

  1. First, we will let you know. We will email the account owner explaining what we have observed and ask if there is context we are missing.
  2. We may temporarily limit sending. If high-volume or suspicious activity continues, we may pause outbound message delivery while we investigate.
  3. We may suggest moving to an Enterprise plan. If your usage is legitimate but consistently very high, we will work with you on a custom arrangement that fits your real volume.
  4. Suspension or termination. For serious or repeated violations, including spam, fraud, or abuse, we may suspend or terminate the account without refund.

We aim to be reasonable. The vast majority of fair usage conversations are resolved with a quick email exchange.

Carrier responsibility

VoxiSMS sends messages through your own Android phone and your own mobile carrier plan. You remain responsible for:

  • Complying with your carrier's terms of service
  • Any charges your carrier applies for SMS sent
  • Any restrictions, blocks, or penalties your carrier imposes on your SIM or account

VoxiSMS does not control carrier behavior and cannot intervene if your carrier limits or suspends your service due to high SMS volume.

Changes to this policy

VoxiSMS is a new service and we are still learning how customers use it. As we understand real-world usage patterns, we may update this Fair Usage Policy, including potentially introducing specific volume tiers in the future.

If we make material changes, we will notify account holders by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Existing customers will always be given the chance to choose the plan that best fits their usage before any new limits apply.
